Beautiful Kurdish' Gallery Carpet' from Iran, 5' 2" by 11' 6"
Priced in Mexican Pesos. Beautiful Kurdish Gallery Carpet from Iran, 5' 2" by 11' 6". A rug is called a gallery carpet when the width is approx. 50% of the length. This beautiful weaving is very close to that formula. The Kurds are an ancient tribal peoples in the mid-east.
Most of the Kurds live in contiguous areas of Iran, Iraq, and Turkey—a somewhat loosely defined geographic region generally referred to as Kurdistan (“Land of the Kurds”). The have suffered much from the governments in the countries where they are found. Iraq turned chemical weapons on them, Turkey is still hostile to their claims of autonomy, Iran seems to be, of all, the most tolerant but not 100% supportive. Beautiful color combinations in this carpet.
