This is a magnificent rug! My Iranian advisor in the US commented that it is a clear to him this was commissioned by a very wealthy person in Iran.
Notice the special end treatments. A sculptured panel with flowery details and an inscription including the name of the original owner, not at all common in rug weaving.
Excuse the color variation in some photos of the details. Poor lighting in the area of the photo shoot.
