Dimitar Krustev (1920-2013) was a Bulgarian artist. He trained at the Academy of Arts in Bulgaria before moving to the USA, where he gained a Bachelor of Arts degree at Kent State and a Masters Degree in art at the University of Iowa. He subsequently became a commercial artist for the magazine Better Homes and Gardens. During the nine years he was there, he opened his own studio where he taught art. He left the magazine to focus on his art and travelled to Mexico.
He lived in relative obscurity in Ajijic until his works were shown in Mexico City to critical acclaim.
He passed away in Ajijic in 2013.
