Louis XIV Arm Chair, Late 18th C.
Priced in Mexican Pesos.
This most likely is from the period (Louis XIV, King of France) or very shortly thereafter. The owner insists, based on construcion and fabulous patina on the wood, that is it genuine 18th C. I had the pleasure to tour the Museum of the City (in Paris) in May and they have a set of 4, identical, genuine Louis XIV chairs on exhibit.
I could not see any difference between those and this one!
Dimensions: 21" seat height, 24.5" wide, 44" tall at the back. Needlepoint fabric is antique and typical to a period chair ..BUT I can't authenticate the age of the needlepoint ... old and in 'pretty good' condition, but not perfect.
This is a chair you get to enjoy looking at in your home, probably not using too often.. comes with a little pillow also of period needlepoint, that the owner always had with the chair.
