This Icon depicts the Resurrection of Jesus, the guardian angel and the Roman guard protecting the grave.
This antique Icon is authentic, I can't date it precisely but surely 19th C. if not earlier.
Beautifully painted and gilt. Some aging to the giltwork on one corner.
When the slices of wood are chosen to paint a lateral support is enbedded into the backside to prevent warping. In the case of this old Icon, that support is missing and it has warped a bit.
